My Journey to Finding Confidence in Swimwear
I’ve always had a complex relationship with my body. For as long as I can remember, I struggled with body dysmorphia, battling that inner voice that always seemed to find something to criticize. Swimwear, especially, felt like a spotlight on every insecurity I carried. When it came time to try on swimsuits, I always felt like nothing quite fit me right or showed me in the way I wanted to be seen.
Starting SwimsByDidi was as much a journey of self-love as it was about creating something beautiful for others. When I designed the first Dikini, it was meant to be simple—a well-fitting, comfortable bikini that worked for my shape and made me feel at ease. But when I slipped into that first Dikini, something changed. For the first time, I looked in the mirror and felt genuinely good about myself. It was more than just a swimsuit; it was a small step towards appreciating my body, exactly as it was.
The Dikini became my personal reminder that swimwear doesn’t have to feel like a compromise or an ordeal. It can be something that makes us feel powerful, beautiful, and comfortable in our own skin. Designing it from my own experience, I wanted each piece to be more than fabric—to be a chance to embrace yourself, to celebrate every part of who you are.
Wearing my first Dikini, I felt a shift that went beyond just body image. I saw myself in a new light, one that was gentler and more appreciative. I want everyone who wears a Dikini to feel that too—that moment of seeing yourself and realizing you’re just right, exactly as you are.
This is the heart of SwimsByDidi: creating swimwear that supports confidence, self-love, and joy. I hope our designs inspire that same shift for anyone who, like me, is on their own journey to loving the skin they’re in. 💋
