SUSTAINABILITY
SUSTAINABILITY AT SWIMS BY DIDI
We know the fashion industry, especially swimwear, isn’t the most sustainable, and we’re not here to pretend otherwise. The most sustainable thing would be to stop making clothes altogether, but fashion is more than fabric to us. It’s culture. It’s livelihood. Its representation. It’s joy.
Swims by Didi exists to make swimwear that celebrates our bodies, our identities, and our stories — while being mindful of the impact we leave behind. That means producing intentionally, avoiding waste wherever possible, paying fairly, and constantly improving the way we work.
We don’t “greenwash” or use sustainability as a marketing trick. We keep it honest: we’re not perfect, but we are intentional. Every piece we make is part of an ongoing journey toward a more responsible future.
MADE-TO-ORDER & LIMITED STOCK
Overproduction is one of the biggest problems in fashion, and we refuse to add to it. Most of our pieces are made-to-order, cut and sewn specifically for you. When we do carry ready-made stock, it’s in very limited quantities and restocked only according to demand. This keeps waste to an absolute minimum.
Our designs are made to last beyond a single season, and our goal is for every Swims by Didi piece you own to serve you for years, not months.
ETHICAL LABOUR
We produce locally in Accra, Ghana, and we pay our team fairly, well above minimum wage. Everyone who works with us does so in a safe, clean, and respectful environment. The people who make your swimwear are valued, skilled artisans, and they are at the heart of everything we do.
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
We produce slowly and intentionally. By working on a smaller scale, we can give each piece the attention it deserves, ensure high-quality finishing, and make sure it fits your body perfectly.
OUR COMMITMENT
Sustainability is a process, not a finish line. As Swims by Didi grows, we’re committed to:
-
Reducing waste even further
-
Exploring more responsible materials
-
Supporting and empowering our local community through fair employment
-
Sharing our progress with full transparency
We’re not perfect, but we are intentional. Every stitch, every choice, and every design is made with care for our people, our planet, and our culture.
